Salutations to padmanAbha, holding the kaumodaki mace;

Salutations to the foremost being, with the ploughshare weapon and the sunanda club;

uttarasyAM jagannAtha bhavantaM sharaNaM gataH ||
Protect me holding the spiked pestle O lotus-eyed one;
I seek refuge to the lord of the world in the north.
khaDgamAdAya charMamAtha astra-shastrAdikaM hare |
namaste rakSha rakShoghna aishAnyAM sharaNaM gataH ||
Hari with the sword, shield, missiles and hand-combat weapons;
Salutations to the to rakshas-killer protect I seek you refuge in the north-west direction.
pA~nchajanyaM mahAsha~NkhaM anudbodhaM cha pa~NkajaM |
pragR^ihya rakSha mAM viShNo AgnyeyAM rakSha sUkara ||
Grasping the great pA~nchajanya conch and anudbodha lotus;
O viShNu protect me, in the quarter of agni protect me O boar-formed one.
chandra-sUryaM samAgR^ihya khaDgaM chAndramasaM tathA |
nairR^ityAM mAM cha rakShasva divyamUrte nR^ikesarin ||
Holding the moon and sun together, with the cresent moon scimitar;
in the quarter of nirR^iti protect me, O one of blazing leonine form
vaijayantIM sampragR^ihya shrIvatsaM kaNThabhUShaNam |
vAyavyAM rakSha mAM deva hayagrIva namo.astu te ||
Wearing the vaijayanti necklace and the shrivatsa ornament;
in the quarter of vAyu protect me O god, salutations to hayagrIva.
vainateyaM samAruhya tvantarikShe janArdana |
mAM rakShasvAjita sadA namaste .astvaparAjita ||
Riding on vainateya coursing through the air O janArdana;
protect me O unconquerable one, eternal salutations to the unconquered one.
vishAlAkShaM samAruhya rakSha mAM tvaM rasAtale |
akUpAra namastubhyaM mahAmIna namo.astu te ||
Riding on vishAlAkSha in the rasAtala nether world protect me;
salutations to the great turtle; salutations to the great fish.
kara-shIrShAdya~NgulIShu satya tvaM bAhupa~njaram |
kR^itvA rakShasva mAM viShNo namaste puruShottama ||
You creating verily a protective cage with your hands for the hands, head onwards to fingers;
